There is no data on site traffic for doTemplate. The company was founded in 2007 and boasts more than 120,000 templates downloaded.
By providing an interface for users to customize basic web templates online and then download for use in their desired platform, doTemplate offers a unique service. Unfortunately, it apparently is still in beta and after spending time customizing, the template may not be able to be downloaded.
Users browse the gallery of 24 templates. Once chosen, they then begin customization with a live editor. By clicking on a page element, an editing tool opens. Editors are easy to use and intuitive. Images, text, backgrounds, and other elements may be changed.
When customization is complete, users must choose whether to download the template in XHTML, blogger format, or WordPress format. The program saves the template and images to a zip file. During testing, the template’s save function yielded an error stating that the site is still in beta and was unable to save the theme. This occurred with both XHTML and Blogger attempts. WordPress is not yet supported at all.
No registration is necessary.
doTemplate is currently free, but plans for premium templates and options are in development. The site requests that the link back to doTemplate is left in the footer when the templates are hosted.
Anyone looking for an easy, fully customizable, free template builder for websites or blogs may find doTemplate useful. Do a test download prior to spending time on customization in case the action fails.
